XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 7
The Redmi Note 7 is another not so expensive but solid mid-level smartphone from Xiaomi. The phone has a great build and serves some flagship features despite being relatively cheap. It features a large screen, good battery life as well as great computing ability. This makes it a delight for both movie lovers and gamers. The device features a dual-camera setup which is just good for capturing images but not so great considering there are mid-level android devices with the quad-camera setup. However, if the price of the phone is considered then this is not so bad.
The price of Redmi Note 7 in Nigeria depends on where you buy it. The price varies for various platforms but only by a slight difference. For platforms like Jumia, the price is N70,000 to N75,000. Click to buy from Jumia

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Full Review
Design and Build
The Redmi Note 7 features impressive design and great build quality. It is sleek but big which is to be expected considering its large 6.3-inch screen. Weighing 185g, the Redmi Note 7 is also heavy although you may not feel the weight much with normal usage. The sides of the device are made of plastic and are thick enough for a comfortable hold.
Protection is available in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covering both the front and back of the phone. This offers screen protection in case of a fall and also makes the phone more scratch resistant. Also, the body of the phone is P2i nano-coated and this is said to make the phone splash-proof. The power button and volume rocker are located on the right and both have a good tactile response.
The SIM tray is located on the left and houses either two Nano-SIMs or one Nano-SIM and a microSD card. A 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-Type-C port sit at the bottom of the device. Also, there is an IR blaster on the top of the device which can be used for controlling infrared home appliances through the Mi Remote app.
The selfie camera sits on the dewdrop notch of the phone while the capacitive fingerprint sensor sits at the rear. The glassy back of the phone is reminiscent of the Oppo F7 but is of greater build quality. The dual rear camera module protrudes slightly.
The phone features a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2340 IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display though would have been better with AMOLED but notwithstanding, the screen makes for great viewing outdoors except in direct sunlight. The viewing angles of the screen are great, retaining both clarity and color integrity off-angle. The screen is large, with a screen to body ratio of about 80%. This makes it a great device for watching movies and also for playing games.
Redmi Note 7 runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS. This smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The phone is available in RAM/ internal storage configurations of 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. The graphics is expertly handled by Adreno 512 GPU. These specifications make the device a powerful performer that is capable of carrying out great computing tasks without hitches. Regular tasks are handled by the device smoothly with even more challenging tasks like gaming are handled with ease by the device.
The primary camera configuration is dual, with a 48MP wide (f/1.2) and a 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. This main camera configuration is good and capable of capturing breathtaking images. It has features such as phase-detection autofocus, and HDR but no optical image stabilization and laser autofocus which are available in flagship dual cameras.
For its price range, the camera configuration of the Redmi Note 7 is one of the best available options. Under good lighting conditions, images captured by the device are superb but the camera struggles to render great images under medium to low light conditions especially in low light scenarios with bright spots. Shooting modes available include AI, Portrait, Pro mode, Night mode, and Panorama. The secondary selfie shooter is 13MP (f/2.2) which is great for selfie shots.
Videos can be recorded at up to Full HD resolution. Although there is no Optical Image Stabilization, image stabilization is still good which means you can record great videos on the device. The camera does not perform very well in indoor situations and also under low light when recording videos but this is to be expected of a device of this price range.
The phone comes with an impressive 4000mAh battery. This means you can enjoy the phone all day on a full battery with minimal usage. There is no wireless charging as expected, but there is fast charging although the phone is not packed with a fast charger. You can purchase an 18W fast charger if you so desire.
Overall, the Redmi Note 7 is an excellent smartphone, offering some flagship specs on a budget mid-level device. Its solid build, great screen, impressive battery life, and camera all make it very easy to recommend this device. The phone is a gamer’s delight and is also great for watching movies. There is also a Pro version which features even more impressive specs but at an extra cost.
